HOUSTON – A resident of an independent living retirement community in Kingwood alleges she sustained fractures to her leg in a fall in a restroom.

Annie Yoder filed a complaint on Feb. 5 in the Harris County District Court against Watercrest at Kingwood Genpar LLC, et al. alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 7, 2017, she was entered a public restroom at defendants' Watercrest at Kingwood community and slipped and fell on a clear liquid on the floor. In an attempt to brace herself from falling, she alleges she grabbed the wall-mounted sink, which pulled from its anchor and fell on her leg. She alleges she sustained serious injuries, including fractures on her left tibial plateau, left tibial shaft, left fibular shaft and tissue damage to her left knee as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff holds Watercrest at Kingwood Genpar LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to timely remove or clean the liquid substance on the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Eric L. Rhodes of The Rhodes Law Firm in Harris.
