GALVESTON – Claiming that his business partner stole from their venture to feed a drug habit, Texas resident Brian Dawson has pursued legal action.

Recent Galveston County District Court records show that Dawson brought a lawsuit against Robert Denton Whitmire, of Bacliff, in the 122nd District Court on Feb. 22.

The men partnered to create Rush Industrial Hose and Equipment Services, to which the plaintiff contributed over $150,000 for capital and operating funds while the defendant was entrusted with management of the day-to-day operations of the business.

According to the suit, Whitmire “has squandered and/or misappropriated the entirety of (Dawson’s) investment in the business” by using “substantial sums” from Rush’s coffers to buy “substantial quantities of cocaine.”

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by the law firm Mejias Lindsay, PLLC in Houston.
