GALVESTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Galveston hotel/spa, alleging she was caused to fall down a staircase.

Kimberly Lane filed a complaint Feb. 20 in Galveston County District Court against Moody Gardens Inc., and the city of Galveston, alleging negligence, strict liability and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on March 30, 2017, Lane was departing the main pyramid building at Moody Gardens in Galveston. The suit states she lost her footing and fell down the staircase due to a poorly designed handrail that curved away from her.

Lane says she sustained a broken arm, plus the fracture of several other bones in her lower extremeties that led to extended hospital stays and multiple surgeries.

Lane seeks between $200,000 and $1 million in damages, trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs and all legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Brenton J. Allison, Douglas Gilman and Michael Prejean of Gilman Allison LLP in Pearland.
