HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is filing a class action lawsuit against a telemarketing agency, alleging she was harassed.
Monica Abboud, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint March 20 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Health Insurance Innovations Inc, a Florida corporation, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
Abboud alleges she was repeatedly called by Health Insurance Innovations, which was seeking telemarketing clientele, even though the plaintiff never provided her number or given consent to be contacted by the defendant.
The suit alleges the defendant trespassed on the plaintiff's privacy and interfered with her use of the phone.
Abboud seeks trial by jury, monetary damages for each violation of $500, trebled damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other fit relief. She is represented by attorney W. Craft Hughes of Hughes Ellzey LLP in Houston.
