HOUSTON — An employee is suing Dollar General, alleging she was regularly paid less than she was owed.

Monique Tillis, individually and on behalf of all similarly situated, filed a class action complaint March 21 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Global Fixture Services Inc., and Dolgencorp of Texas Inc., better known as Dollar General, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Tillis says she was employed as a contractor by Dollar General starting in November 2015. The plaintiff alleges she regularly worked in excess of 40 hours a week and was incorrectly classified as an independent contractor, which meant she could not receive overtime.

Tillis seeks trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages, attorney fees and costs, liquidated damages and all other fit relief. She is represented by attorney Josef F. Buenker of The Buenker Law Firm in Houston.
