HOUSTON – An on the job accident involving a saw last year has prompted Harris County resident Jim Liang to sue Alpha Plastics, Inc.

Recent Harris County District Court records show that Liang filed a lawsuit against his employer on Mar. 22 in the 152nd District Court.

Employed by the defendant as a maintenance person, the plaintiff claims that he was instructed “to use a saw tool with a non-conforming blade which was purchased and installed in an attempt to save (the company) money on saw blades.”

“The defendant provided the plaintiff with no training, no safety procedures, no personal protective equipment, and no safety instruction at any time while the plaintiff was employed by the defendant,” the 29-page original petition says. “While using the saw and blade as instructed by his employer, the saw blade separated from the saw tool, deeply puncturing the plaintiff’s foot and ankle area, which became infected by the blade and caused severe disfigurement and impairment.”

Liang seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by The Amaro Law Firm in Houston.
