Traveler alleges plaza's negligence caused fall at truck stop

TEXARKANA — A  Tennessee woman is suing a Mount Vernon travel plaza, alleging she was injured when she fell at a truck stop.

Donna Brooks filed a complaint April 16 in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Zanbaka USA 30 LLC, doing business as Dukes Travel Plaza, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2018, Brooks was at the travel plaza, 300 SE Access Road, Mt. Vernon. The suit says Brooks lost her balance while leaving a restroom and fell due to a flooring defect, causing her to break her hip and sustain other injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Dukes Travel Plaza should have known the premesis created an unreasonable risk to invitees.

Brooks seeks judgment in excess of $75,000, trial by jury, court costs, attorney fees and all just relief. She is represented by attorneys Michael Ace and Randell C. Roberts of Roberts & Roberts in Tyler.
