GALVESTON — A Galveston County woman is suing Best Western, alleging she was injured when she slipped and fell on water in the lobby.

Rosslyn Cornish filed a complaint May 20 in Galveston County District Court against Yello Sapphire Hospitality Inc., doing business as Best Western Mainland Inn and Suites, alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on June 22, 2017, Cornish walked into the lobby of the Best Western Mainland Inn and Suites at 10630 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City. The suit says she slipped and fell on water that had been accumulated on the lobby floor, leading to serious injuries, pain, anxiety and discomfort.

The plaintiff alleges Best Western failed to place signs that warned of the hazard.

Cornish seeks trial by jury, compensation for injuries between $200,000 and $1 million, and all other equitable relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Loren G. Klitsas of Klitsas & Vercher PC in Houston.
