GALVESTON — Three Harris County women are suing a Galveston amusement park venue, alleging one of the plaintiffs was injured when a ride caused her to strike her head.

Maycie B. Schuster, Melissa Froehlich and Judy Copeland filed a complaint May 20 in Galveston County District Court against Landry's Inc., Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, Landry's Development Inc., Landry's GP Inc., Landry's Management LP, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the three plaintiffs were guests at Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier on May 20, 2017. The suit says Schuster was a passenger on the Pirate's Plunge ride and was forcefully thrown forward, causing her to strike her head against another passenger's head, leading to severe head injuries for the plaintiff.

The plaintiffs seek between $200,000 and $1 million, interest, costs of the suit and all other just relief. They are represented by attorney Derrick M. Saulsberry of Houston.
