BEAUMONT – Two Jefferson County residents allege their former employer failed to pay them a minimum wage.

Shelby Lee Williams and Randy Edward Pouncy, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on May 22 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Cenikor Foundation and William Bailey alleging violation of Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiffs were formerly employed by the defendant as manual laborers. The plaintiffs allege Cenikor did not pay for overtime work, did not maintain accurate time and pay records and did not pay a wage of at least $7.25 an hour.

The suit states Cenikor retained the plaintiffs' wages in exchange for room, board and alleged rehabilitation.

The plaintiffs are seeking unpaid wages, overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and costs, interest and other relief deemed fit. The plaintiffs are represented by Melissa Moore and Curt Hesse of Moore & Associates in Houston.
