HOUSTON – A Houston man alleges his security and personal protection services employer has failed to pay him the appropriate rate for overtime work.
Jose Mercado filed a complaint on in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Alturky LLC, doing business as American Guards, and Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The suit states the plaintiff has been employed by the defendants since November 2017. The plaintiff alleges he regularly worked in excess of 40 hours a week but was not paid at a rate of time-and-one-half of his regular rate of pay.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for unpaid overtime, attorneys' fees, costs, expenses, interest and other relief deemed fit. The plaintiff is represented by Mark Siurek and Patricia Haylon of Warren & Siurek LLP in Houston.
