Husband alleges wife died due to negligence of health care team

HOUSTON — A Delaware man is suing a Houston hospital, alleging his wife died due to the negligence of the hospital's health care team.

Rufus Dandridge Collins of New Castle, Delaware, as personal representative of the estate of Delores Collins deceased, filed a complaint June 5 in Harris County District Court against Kindred Hospital-Houston and Kindred Hospitals Limited Partnership alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Delores Collins, 68 while visiting Texas experienced a painful headache was admitted to Kindred Hospital-Houston on July 13, 2017. While at the defendant's facility, the suit says, Collins developed a pressure ulcer on her sacrum which had to be debrided. This continued a number of times until she eventually died Feb. 26, 2018, due to the defendants' negligence.

Rufus Dandridge Collins seeks trial by jury, actual damages, interest, costs incurred and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Mary E. Green of Brown Christie & Green in Houston.
