HOUSTON — A Liberty County woman is suing her former employer, alleging she was unfairly terminated and retaliated against due to her age and race.

Myra LaVergne filed a complaint June 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against University of Texas Medical Branch-CMC and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital, alleging discrimination and violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The plaintiff alleges she was terminated from her position after a pattern of discrimination and retaliation. LaVergne, who is black, says she was not promoted May 10, 2017, due to her age, color and race, and that after filing EEOC complaints she was terminated

LaVergne seeks $3 million in relief. She is representing herself.
