McGuireWoods LLP issued the following announcement on June 12.

McGuireWoods partners Becky H. Diffen and K. Elizabeth Sieg are winners of The M&A Advisor’s annual Emerging Leaders Awards honoring significant successes by M&A, financing and turnaround professionals under age 40. They will be honored at a Sept. 17 awards gala in New York.

Diffen, a partner in Austin, Texas, leads McGuireWoods’ renewable energy practice and has experience as a utility-scale wind power developer. She has partnered with more than 40 leading renewable energy developers and investors to acquire, develop and finance projects throughout the country.

Diffen is a co-author of “Wind Law,” the only legal treatise to focus on renewable energy law, and “Lexis Practice Advisor: Renewable Energy.” She is a sought-after speaker on project development, renewable energy transactions and energy storage. She also co-chairs the Austin chapter of Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy, a national nonprofit that promotes the education, professional development and advancement of women in the renewable energy industry.

“I am grateful for this recognition and proud to be part of a McGuireWoods team that is on the front lines of important legal, regulatory and business issues in the renewable energy sector,” Diffen said.

Sieg, based in Richmond, Virginia, focuses on restructuring and insolvency and commercial litigation matters, including corporate bankruptcy proceedings and other creditors’ rights issues. She represented a major U.S. automaker in the international insolvency of Japanese airbag manufacturer Takata.

Sieg presents at bankruptcy seminars throughout the country and participates in the firm’s pro bono representation of a Texas man seeking post-conviction relief under the Texas junk science statute following his 1999 capital murder conviction.

“This award is a testament to the strength of McGuireWoods’ national restructuring and insolvency practice and the significant matters we handle as a team for clients,” Sieg said.

The M&A Advisor publishes insights and intelligence on mergers and acquisitions and serves as a premier leadership organization of M&A, turnaround and finance professionals.
