Customer alleges Georgia management group harassed her about debt she did not owe

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Georgia debt collection agency, alleging she was harassed about a debt that she did not owe.

Katy A. Sloyer filed a complaint June 27 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Arc Management Group LLC of Kennesaw, Georgia, alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, Sloyer began receiving calls from Arc Management in fall 2018 and was told the defendant was trying to collect a debt that was owed to UT Physicians. The plaintiff alleges had no knowledge of a debt and asked for additional information.

Sloyer says she contacted UT Physicians about the debt but it did not have any record of such a transaction. The defendant allegedly continued calling the plaintiff, and Sloyer requested that Arc Management stop calling. The plaintiff says she even wrote a letter to the defendant regarding the situation, but Arc Management has not heeded the requests.

Sloyer seeks trial by jury, punitive damages and actual damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of the Sulaiman Law Group Ltd. in Lombard, Illinois.
