Walgreens customer alleges she was assaulted by store employee

HOUSTON — A Walgreens customer is suing an employee of the store chain, alleging one of the defendant's employees assaulted the plaintiff inside a store.

Lavonne Sandifer filed a complaint July 11 in Harris County District Court against Walgreen Co., and Jane Doe, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Sandifer was a customer at the Walgreens, 6360 San Felipe St., Houston on July 14, 2017. The suit alleges Sandifer was waiting in line to pay for her item when defendant Jane Doe, a cashier grabbed the money from the plaintiff's hands. 

Sandifer said she complained about the incident to the store manager, Doe, approached the plaintiff, began arguing her, invaded Sandifer's private space and causing the plaintiff to step backward and fall. The defendant, the suit alleges,  then proceeded to attack Standifer, resulting in injuries to the plaintiff's wrist, hand, knee and body.

The plaintiff alleges Walgreens failure to properly hire and train and employee has resulted in pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and loss of earning capacity for Sandifer

Sandifer seeks between $100,000 and $200,000 in monetary relief, interest, attorney fees and all other just relief. She plaintiff is represented by attorney Daniel F. Albert of Daniel Albert Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
