MARSHALL — A Marion County couple is suing Monsanto, alleging the husband and their children were exposed to dangerous chemicals.

Joseph Matthew Blair and Tiara Smith Blair, individually and on behalf of their minor children, filed a complaint Aug. 22 in the Marshall Division for the Eastern District of Texas against Monsanto Company, Bayer Corporation and Bayer AG, alleging liability, negligence and breach of implied warranties.

According to the complaint, Joseph Blair was employed by a company that used Monsanto's substances, namely RoundUp, a weed killer. The plaintiff said he worked for the company from Sept. 16, 2016, to Nov. 9, 2018, during which time he was exposed to more than 100,000 gallons of glyphosate.

As a result of his exposure to the chemicals, the plaintiff said he was caused to contract non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The Blair couple fears that their children also have been exposed to dangerous chemicals.

The Blairs seek trial by jury, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other just relief. They are represented by attorney J. Marshall Jones Jr. of Jones & Odom LLP in Shreveport, Louisiana.
