HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing a maritime business, alleging he was injured while using a ladder on a line-handling boat.

Michael Grable filed a complaint Aug. 23 in Harris County District Court against Texas Mooring LLC and Intercontinental Terminals Company LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Grable was employed by Texas Mooring on Jan. 23, 2017 as a line-handling boat captain. The suit alleges Grable piloted the boat to the terminal where he boat was kept. The plaintiff alleges he was attempting to climb a ladder supplied by ITC to reach a dock but the ladder was too short to allow him to climb out and he injured his lumbar spine.

Grable seeks compensatory losses of more than $1 million, court costs, interest, attorney fees and all just relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys John W. Stevenson Jr. and Jeremy Newell of Stevenson & Murray in Houston, and by Paxton N. Crew of The Crew Law Firm PC in League City.
