HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing a rehab center, alleging negligence caused her mother's death.

Myra Coleman-Washington, individually and as representative of the estate of Lillie Mae Coleman, deceased, filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Harris County District Court against Silverado Hermann Park LLC, doing business as Silverado Hermann Park, and Kindred Rehab Services LLC, doing business as RehabCare, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint Coleman was a 90-year-old woman who was in the care of the defendant starting in December 2017. The suit states Coleman was caused to fall from a wheelchair, strike her head Dec. 28, 2017, and suffer head trauma. As a result of the fall, the suit states, she died Jan. 3, 2018.

The plaintiff alleges Coleman's fall was caused by rehab center's negligence. The suit states Coleman's foot had slipped off the wheelchair footrest and was not repositioned properly. This caused her leg to be dragged under the wheelchair as she was being pushed, and caused her to fall from the wheelchair, the suit states.

Coleman-Washington seeks interest, court costs and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Sarnie A. Randle Jr. of S.A. Randle & Associates PC in Houston.
