Customer alleges harassment from debt collection agency

HOUSTON — A consumer is suing a debt collection agency, alleging he was harassed over a defaulted consumer debt.

Jesus J. Medina filed a complaint Aug. 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against LTD Financial Services LP, alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, starting July 12, Medina was contacted by LTD Financial seeking to collect on a defaulted consumer debt. Despite Medina requesting that the contacts stop, the defendant has continued to send letters to the plaintiff and call him by phone.

The plaintiff alleges he has been caused unnecessary harassment by the defendant.

Medina seeks trial by jury, statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just and appropriate relief. He is represented by attorneys Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
