HOUSTON — A Fort Bend County woman is suing a Houston hospice, alleging she slipped and fell while visiting her mother.

Vernell Fontenot filed a complaint Sept. 3 in Harris County District Court against Harbor Hospice and Home LP, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 16, Fontenot was at Harbor Hospice, 11990 Kirby Drive, Houston to visit her elderly mother. Fontenot said she was walking on the defendant's property when she slipped and fell on liquid that was left on the ground.

The plaintiff alleges due to Harbor Hospice's failure to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, she sustained severe injuries, impairment, disfigurement and medical expenses.

Fontenot seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Charles T. Devine of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
