LOMBARD — A Texas debt collection agency is facing allegations by woman who claims she endured daily calls on her cell phone in their attempt to collect her medical debt without her consent in violation of Texas and federal law.

Lisa Kaes filed a complaint  Nov. 5 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Avanteusa, LTD alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Texas state law.

Kaes alleges in her suit that she began receiving calls from Avanteusa on her cell phone in September of 2019 regarding a debt from medical treatment  she received from Paragon Emergency Services in 2017. Each time she answered her phone, there was a long pause before being connected, Kaes claims. She also claims she requested the calls stop and that she has never received anything in writing from the defendants.

Kaes seeks monetary relief not exceeding $1,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Joseph Davidson and Mohammed Badwan of The Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
