Man claims debt collection agency, Equifax did not update his account information causing his credit denials

Gavelbrowngold

ST. LOUIS — A Texas man is suing a debt collection agency and Equifax claiming neither company updated his account information to show his debt  marked as "disputed" which caused credit denials.

Lauston Garrett filed a complaint Nov. 7 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Receivable Management Services International and Equifax Information Services, LLC alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

In his complaint, Garrett claims "That RMS never updated" his account information on a December 2018 credit report or marked his debt "as disputed even after receiving information of the dispute." He alleges that this led to his false credit reporting.

Lauston seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other jus relief. He is represented by Gregory Motil, Joel Halvorsen, Gregory Klote and Halvorsen Klote of The Halversen Klote Law Firm in St. Louis.
