Customer alleges Steak N Shake negligence led to fall

HOUSTON — Steak N Shake faces a suit from a Brazoria County woman who allegedly slipped on grease at the defendant's Pearland restaurant. 

Bessie Cox filed a complaint Nov. 13 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Steak N Shake Inc., alleging premises liability and negligence. 

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2017, while at a Steak N Shake on Center Drive in Pearland, Cox slipped on "a foreign substance namely grease" that was on the floor near the kitchen and leading into the bathroom. The suit states Cox sustained injuries to her arms and legs, aggravated her existing condition and was forced to spend money for medical care. 

She alleges Steak N Shake agents "should have known of the existence" of the hazardous condition. 

Cox seeks montetary relief greater than $75,000, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Allie Booker of The Booker Law Firm in Houston.
