HOUSTON — A former Murphy Oil employee who suffered burns from a high-pressure gas compressor alleges the company responsible for the equipment's monitoring is negligent.
Joseph Cruz filed a complaint Nov. 26 in the Harris County District Court against Archrock Inc., alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on Jan. 2. 2018, Cruz was working for Murphy Oil at the company's Jambers West location in Tilden when he suffered "flash fire burns" that came from the explosion of a high-pressure gas compressor. He alleges Archrock is contractually responsible for monitoring and controlling the compressor and failed to inspect and install safety mechanisms on the compressor.
The suit alleges Cruz sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical and pharmaceutical expenses.
Cruz seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, trial by jury, interest, costs of court and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Jorge Herrera, Javier Herrera and Laura Gutierrez Tamez of The Herrera Law Firm in San Antonino.
