HOUSTON — Two former Cheniere Energy employees allege they were singled out and terminated after filing sexual harassments complaints against their supervisor.
Owen Hendricks and Thomas Salter filed a complaint Dec. 6 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Cheniere Energy, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Salter, 41, began working for Cheniere in July 2015 as a superintendent and Hendricks, 54, began working for Cheniere in March 2012 as director of construction. They allege that after each of them filed sexual harassment complaints against their supervisor, office manager Elizabeth Ruiz, in January 2019, they were singled out and terminated for taking an ATV off site while participating in the company's team building hunting trip in July 2018, despite multiple employees also participating.
According to their complaint, Salter and Hendricks were issued a right to sue by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Sept. 9.
Hendricks and Salter seek punitive and compensatory damages, trial by jury, interest, costs of court and all other just and fair relief. They are represented by attorney Alfonso Kennard, Jr of The Kennard Law Firm PC in Houston.
