Construction worker alleges Hightower Electric's negligence caused electocution

HOUSTON — A worker who was installing sheetrock at a construction site in Houston alleges he suffered electrocution from a live cable left hanging from the ceiling. 

Jose Brito filed a complaint  Dec. 10 in Harris County Texas Court against Hightower Electric Company Ltd., alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, Brito was working on a remodeling project on the sixth floor of a Houston building Nov. 12. The suit states he was electrocuted by a live electrical MC cable that was being worked on or installed by Hightower Electric. 

The plaintiff alleges the wire was left hanging from the open ceiling into his work space without being properly covered or capped. The suit states he sustained physical pain, mental anguish and the need for medical treatment. 

Brito seeks trial by jury, monetary relief, interest, attorney fees, costs of suit and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Bennett Midlo of Sico Hoelscher Harris LLP in Houston and Gerardo Cantu of The Gerardo Cantu Law Firm in Houston.
