Man injured while working aboard towing vessel claims Genesis Marine's negligence

HOUSTON — A man injured while working on a Genesis Marine towing vessel is claiming negligence and the vessel's unseaworthiness. 

Jessie Jackson filed a complaint Feb. 14 in the Harris County District Court against Genesis Marine LLC alleging negligence. 

Jackson was working as a tankerman for Genesis Marine on the M/V Frank Jahn towing vessel on Dec. 20, 2019. He alleges that while the vessel was in the waters near New Orleans towing two barges, his foot slipped on a carvel while he was transferring from the one barge onto another. Jackson claims he suffered injuries to his knee, leg and other parts of his body due to the vessel lacking a ladder, an incompetent crew and other safety issues.

Jackson seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Attorneys Matthew Shaffer and Laura De La Cruz in Houston.
