HOUSTON — A Brazos Midstream Partners compressor operator who was injured when a pipe struck him on the head is claiming the negligence of Kodiak Compression, the company who maintained the equipment.

Arturo  Cordova filed a complaint June 8 in Harris County District Court against Kodiak Compression Inc., alleging negligence.

Cordova was working for Brazos Midstream Partners as a compressor operator in Kermit on Jan. 9, 2020. He alleges in his complaint that while installing an elbow fitting for release of gas and other materials during decompression on a machine maintained by Kodiak, he was struck on the head by a pipe fitting and fell to the ground. According to his suit, Cordova lost consciousness and suffered head, neck, lower back and other injuries including disfigurement.  Among Cordova's claims are that Kodiak was negligent in maintaining and inspecting the equipment, failed to provide proper training and safety measures as well as failed to give warnings of the machine's hazards.  Cordova also alleges Kodiak failed to remedy the "dangerous condition" in a timely manner.

Cordova seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Jason Itkin, Noah Wexler and Ben Bireley of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
