HOUSTON — A woman claims she fell on a broken step at her apartment complex in Houston and suffered serious injuries.
Norma Lyles filed a complaint Jan. 18 in Harris County District Court against Westbury Reserve Owner LLC, Westbury Reserve Tic II Owner LLC, Westbury Reserve Owner Tic III Owner LLC, Westbury Reserve Owner Tic IV Owner LLC and Westbury Reserve Tic V Owner LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.
Lyles alleges in her complaint that while at the Westbury Reserve Apartments on Fondren Road in Houston on July 26, 2019, she slipped and fell on a broken step and suffered "serious and permanent" injuries. She alleges the defendants were negligent for allowing a dangerous condition to exist in the area where she was living and for failing to inspect the area and keep it adequately maintained.
In addition, Lyles alleges the defendants failed to supervise or train its employee about "proper and timely removal" of dangerous conditions and neglected to warn of the hazard or provide barriers to keep people out of the area where her alleged accident occurred. Lyles claims she has suffered not only physical pain and disability but has also suffered from lost earnings, medical treatment expenses and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.
Lyles seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Richard Nava of The Nava Law Group PC in Bellaire.
