Greenberg Traurig LLP issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.
Alyssa Ortiz Johnston, a Litigation Practice associate in the Dallas office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been accepted to the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) 2021 Latina Leadership Academy. The Academy took place virtually on March 12.
“We are very proud of Alyssa and her selection for the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Latina Leadership Academy, one of the many critical programs by an organization whose work is pivotal to advancement of Latina lawyers in the workplace,” said Joseph F. Coniglio, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Dallas office. “Alyssa is a talented attorney who has already shown the skills and mindset to make an impact in both the legal field and community. This opportunity with the HNBA Latina Leadership Academy is well deserved.”
According to the HNBA, the Latina Leadership Academy is a program for Latina lawyers from all areas of the profession who have been practicing less than 10 years. This year’s curriculum builds off the successful programs on Grit and Growth Mindset and delves into concepts of executive presence, cultivating leadership skills, and what it means to be authentic in organizations where Latinas remain underrepresented.
“It’s an immense honor to be selected to take part in the 2021 HNBA Leadership Academy. I know that the work the HNBA does is not only inspirational, but attainable. I look forward to participating in the professional development and leadership training program and implementing what I learn at Greenberg Traurig and in my community,” said Johnston. “Additionally, thank you to the HNBA for its continued efforts to reach Hispanic women, particularly as we celebrate women’s history month.”
Johnston handles complex matters and focuses on organization, client communication, and developing cost efficient, client-centered strategies. Her litigation experience covers all aspects of the lifecycle of a case, including pre-suit investigation, written discovery, defending and taking depositions, motion practice, resolution negotiation, pre-trial preparation, and trial. Johnston has represented clients in state court, federal court, and alternative dispute resolution settings.
