HUSCH BLACKWELL LLP: Husch Blackwell Adds Doug Jones to Tax, Nonprofit Organization Practices

Husch Blackwell LLP issued the following announcement on Mar. 15.

Husch Blackwell is pleased to welcome Doug Jones as a partner to the firm’s Austin office.

Jones is a tax attorney and advisor noted for serving non-profit and tax-exempt organizations. He joins the firm’s Tax, Tax Controversy, and Nonprofit Organizations & Religious Institutions groups and its Energy & Natural Resources business unit. He works with corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies that range from startups to multinational public corporations. He is known as a leader in matters of qualified opportunity funds and their tax benefits, working with fund managers and investors on the planning, structuring and implementation of qualified opportunity funds.

Jones also counsels tax-exempt organizations, including public charities, family and corporate private foundations, on a broad range of governance and tax matters, including self-dealing and other private foundation excise tax rules. He also counsels exempt groups on matters related to their status, including compliance with federal limits on lobbying and political campaign activity, issues related to private benefit and private inurement, and strategies around unrelated business taxable income.

Jones earned his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law, his J.D. summa cum laude from Pace University School of Law and his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.
