HOUSTON — A former Horizon Environmental tank cleaning crew supervisor claims the company wrongfully forced him to take unpaid leave with his new employer over a non-compete agreement.

Justin Parada filed a complaint April 2 in Harris County District Court against Anderson Pollution Control Inc., doing business as Horizon Environmental alleging willful and intentional interference with an employment contract.

According to his complaint, Parada worked for Horizon Environmental as a supervisor for the company's tank cleaning crew at the ITC and Kinder Morgan facilities from March 2017 through December of 2020.

He claims that after leaving Horizon and going to work for Vecta Environmental as a supervisor for their tank cleaning crew at the same facilities, he was sent a cease and desist letter from Horizon demanding he stop working Vecta  because he was under a non-compete agreement. Parada alleges that Horizon contends Vecta is a competitor but that he never solicited any business from Horizon's employees away to Vecta. He claims that Horizon's illegal actions forced him to take unpaid leave from Vecta.

Parada seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, interest and all other proper relief. He is represented by Trang Tran of The Tran Law Firm in Houston.
