HOUSTON — A woman claims she fell on an uneven surface and hit her head while at The Wortham Center in Houston.

Gloria Johnson filed a complaint April 2 in Harris County District Court against Wortham Center Operating Company, Wortham Ticket Center, Wortham Theater Foundation, Houston First Corporation and the City of Houston alleging negligence and premises liability.

Johnson was attending an event at The Wortham Center in Houston on June 7, 2019, according to her complaint. She alleges that while entering the building, she tripped and fell on an "uneven surface" near the escalator. Johnson claims she fell forward and struck her head "against the metal" and suffered "serious and painful" injuries. She claims the defendants' negligence for failing to properly maintain and inspect their premises and for failing to "reduce or eliminate the dangerous condition."

Johnson also claims the defendants were negligence for not properly training or supervising their employees and that they failed to warn of the hazard. She alleges she has also suffered impairment, mental anguish, disfigurement and lost wages as a result of her fall.

Johnson seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Sofia Bruera of The Bruera Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
