HOUSTON — A man who was shot five times while leaving the Post Oak Hotel in Houston is claiming the hotel's negligence for lack of security.

Jason Robbins filed a complaint April 2 in Harris County District Court against Hospitality Headquarters Inc., and Landry's Inc., alleging negligence.

Robbins claims in his suit that on May 24, 2020, he was a guest at the Post Oak Hotel on West Loop South in Houston. He alleges that while leaving the hotel around 5:30 a.m., he was shot five times and suffered "severe" injuries. Robbins claims the defendants where negligent for failing to provide a "reasonably safe environment" on its hotel premises and failed to provide property security or have proper safety procedures.

He further claims the defendants failed in their duty to protect him from "criminal acts of a third person" and that the risk of criminal conduct "was so great that it was both unreasonable and foreseeable since other crimes have taken place on the hotel premises." In addition, Robbins alleges in his complaint that he has also suffered permanent impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish and loss of earning capacity. He also alleges he has incurred medical bills as a result of his injuries.

Robbins seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Sean O'Rouke of The Simon & O'Rourke Law Firm in Webster.
