HOUSTON — A woman claims she twisted her foot and suffered other injuries after slipping at a Fiesta Mart in Houston.

Cecilia Cerna filed a complaint April 16 in Harris County District Court against Fiesta Mart LLC doing business as Fiesta Mart #07 and 2ML Real Estate Interest Inc., alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Cerna was shopping at the Fiesta Mart store on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston on July 10, 2020. She alleges that while inside the store, she slipped in one of the store isles, twisted her foot and suffered "serious bodily injuries."

Cerna claims the floor was not "slip resistant" or "adequately maintained." She also claims Fiesta Mart is negligence for allowing its premises to "become dangerous" and for failing to keep the store in a "reasonably safe condition" including keeping its floors free from slippery conditions. Cerna alleges the store also failed to warn of the dangerous condition and that Fiesta Mart should have known of the potential for injury.

Cerna seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Pavel "Paul" Savinov and Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh of The Huynh Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
