HOUSTON — A suit alleges the negligent care a 49 year old woman received from Woman's Hospital of Texas and others caused her death.

Garick Ambrose, individually as a wrongful death beneficiary and as personal representative of the Estate of Shelly Ambrose, deceased and others filed a complaint May 24 in Harris County District Court against Concepcion Ravelo Diaz Arrastia, M.D., Women's Health Surgeons, Breast Health Houston, Woman's Hospital of Texas and others alleging wrongful death and medical negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Ambrose, who at the time was 49 years old, sought treatment from Arrastia on April 5, 2019, due to abnormal uterine bleeding, shortness of breath, nausea, aches and headaches. The plaintiffs claim Ambrose was diagnosed with "stenosis of cervix uteri" and other medical issues and in June of 2019, underwent a hysterectomy and developed post-operative complications including an infection.

The plaintiffs further claim that while at Woman's Hospital of Texas, she was not given her prescribed antibiotics and while at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center on June 15, 2019, Ambrose was found to have dehydration, multi-organ system failure and other issues. According to the suit, Ambrose flatlined on June 17, 2019, and was pronounced dead from acute pulmonary thromboembolism, sepsis and "acute peritonitis complicated multi-organ failure." The plaintiffs allege that the defendants' negligent medical care led to Ambrose's death.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Mary Green and Celia Villarreal of Brown Christie & Green in Houston.
