HOUSTON — A new home buyer alleges he faced plumbing defects and repairs of more than $31,000 due to defective construction.

Patrick Young filed a complaint May 26 in Harris County District Court against Urban Intown Homes LTD, Urban Intown Homes GP, LLC and Houston Northwest Plumbing Corporation alleging breach of contract, breach of warranty and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Young purchased a new home on East 20th Street in Houston from Urban on June 18, 2018, according to his complaint. He alleges that he began to notice a series of construction defects with the home relating to defective plumbing on June 30, 2018. Specifically, Young claims on May 31, 2019, plumbing failures caused "the entire first floor" of the home to flood and caused him to have to leave the property for eight weeks.

Young alleges that he was then informed by Urban representatives that the plumbing contractor "improperly constructed" the plumbing, used improper materials and was operating without a valid license. He alleges they also told him he could expect further plumbing failures and claims Urban's negligence for waiting over a year to inform him of the issues which he estimates will cost $31,200 to repair and replace.

Young seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Richard Weaver and Walker Smith of The Weaver Law Firm in Houston.
