HOUSTON — A Harris County man claims an Amazon delivery driver hit him with a wooden stick after he complained about a mixed up delivery.
James Connerly filed a complaint June 7 in Harris County District Court against Amazon.Com Services LLC, Amazon Logistics Inc., and John Doe alleging negligence.
According to Connerly's suit, he was sitting on his porch on April 10, 2021, as the defendants were making deliveries to residents on his block. He claims the Amazon driver, Doe, "entirely mixed up the delivery of the packages" and when he "expressed his displeasure" with the mix-up, Doe took a wooden stick and hit him multiple times including striking his head.
Connerly alleges Amazon had originally agreed to reimburse him for his medical bills but failed to do so and that they were negligent in the hiring and screening of an "unstable and dangerous" employee such as Doe. He futher alleges Amazon put customer's in danger with its negligent hiring and training and failure to properly train its employees.
Connerly seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Andrew Dao, Kyle Malone and Ajay Ketkar of Daly & Black PC in Houston and Lester Nichols, III of The Nichols Law Group in Houston.
