HOUSTON — A woman who fell into chest deep sewage after falling into an uncovered hole at a business in Spring is claiming negligence.

Veronique Baker filed a complaint June 7 in Harris County District Court against J&S Water Company LLC alleging

Baker alleges that she was on the defendant's premises in Spring Texas on Aug. 31, 2019, to inspect a suspected sewage leak. She claims that "suddenly and without warning" she fell into an uncovered and open hole and was "up to her chest" in sewage.

Baker alleges she suffered pain, physical impairment, mental anguish and incurred medical treatment expenses. She claims the defendants violated state law by having the open hole and that they were aware of the "unreasonably dangerous condition."  Baker further claims the defendants negligence for failing to warn of the hazard or properly maintain the wet well which did not have a lid.

Baker seeks monetary relief of $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Allen Kline, Jr., of The Kline Law Firm in Houston.
