HOUSTON — A tenant at a Houston apartment complex is suing for negligence after his unit's ceiling caved in on him while he was sleeping.

Michael Gooden filed a complaint June 23 in Harris County District Court against Houston Rand Limited Partnership and Lockwood-Rand LLC alleging negligence.

According to his suit, Gooden was in his apartment building on Lockwood Drive in Houston which is owned, maintained and controlled by the defendants. He claims that his apartment ceiling caved in on him as he was sleeping and caused him to suffer injuries. Gooden alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to maintain its premies in a reasonably safe condition.

He specifically alleges the defendants did not correct or warn of the dangerous condition and that they should have properly inspected the apartment building including the condition of the roof. Gooden claims that as a result of his injuries he has endured disability and impairment, loss of earnings and has incurred medical costs including hospital and pharmaceutical bills.

Gooden seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Jordan Glaze, Josh Garrett and Greg Geddie of Glaze/Garrett in Gilmer.
