HOUSTON — A man is claiming negligence after he slipped on a puddle of water at a Houston business and suffered severe injuries.

Farzam Afshar filed a complaint June 24 in Harris County District Court against Will Davis doing business as Lovett Counseling Center alleging negligence.

Afshar alleges in his complaint that while on the defendant's property on June 28, 2019, he slipped and fell on a puddle of water and suffered "severe and permanent" injuries. He claims the defendant failed to inspect and maintain their parking lot or provide him with adequate warning. Afshar alleges the defendants were grossly negligent and were "subjectively aware" of the risk of the standing water but failed to rectify the hazard. He also alleges that he has suffered physical impairment, mental anguish and distress, loss of earnings and incurred medical expenses as a result of his slip and fall.

Afshar seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael Grinsfelder of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
