HOUSTON — A woman who allegedly slipped on a rubber substance at a Houston Office Depot store and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Adriene Miles filed a complaint July 1 in Harris County District Court against Office Depot LLC alleging premises liability.

According to her complaint, Miles was at the Office Depot store on Highway 45 North in Houston on June 3, 2021. She alleges that as she was walking through the store, she slipped and fell on a "black rubber substance" on the floor and suffered "severe injuries."

Miles claims Office Depot was negligent for failing to maintain its premises. Specifically she alleges Office Depot failed to inspect their store and failed to correct the dangerous condition that existed or warn her of the hazard or take safeguards to ensure customers' safety. Miles further claims she has suffered physical impairment, disfigurement and loss of earning capacity because of her injuries.

Miles seeks monetary relief of less than $75,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jordan James of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
