HOUSTON — Pride Houston is suing its former executive director alleging she destroyed the organization's assets and property and continued to act as its agent property after being terminated.

Pride Houston Inc., Pride Committee of Houston Inc., and Thasia Madison in her capacity as president of Pride Houston Inc., filed a complaint July 2 in Harris County District Court against Lorin Roberts alleging breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and non-compete solicitation, fraud, theft and other claims.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Roberts served as executive director of Pride Houston from March 2000 to June 22, 2021, when she was terminated for employee agreement and bylaw violations. The plaintiffs allege that for 15 months, Roberts refused to relinquish Pride Houston's assets which has hindered the organization's current president and board members from continuing with business.

They further allege that right after her termination in June of 2021, Roberts began to destroy Pride Houston's assets and property including the organization's Google Drive account, cloud storage, bank accounts and vendor and sponsorship agreements. The plaintiffs also claim Roberts entered into vendor and sponsor agreements on behalf of Pride Houston when she was no longer an agent for the organization as well as "leaked" Pride Houston confidential information.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by LaToya Jarrett of The Jarrett Law Firm PLLC in Houston and Tatiauna Holland of The Holland Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
