HOUSTON — A woman claims she suffered multiple injuries when the stairs she was coming down at a Houston apartment complex suddenly collapsed.

Lukender Dorsey filed a complaint July 6 in Harris County District Court against Vista 2016 LLC doing business as Mira Vista Apartments, Texas Excel Property Management LLC, Texas Excel Property Management Services Corporation and TXMV2017 LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to Dorsey's suit, she was visting a friend who resided at the Mira Vista Apartments on Northborough Drive in Houston on April 21, 2020. She alleges that as she was walking down a set of stairs, the stairs collapsed and caused her to fall. Dorsey claims she suffered injuries, physical impairment and lost wages as well as incurred medical care expenses.

She alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to inspect and maintain its premises in a safe condition and failing to warn of the dangerous condition. Dorsey also alleges the defendants knew or should have known the conditions at the apartment complex posed "an unreasonable risk of harm."

Dorsey seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Michael Lowenberg and Keith Bakker of The Lowenberg Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
