HOUSTON — A Houston car dealership is facing a claim that it fraudulently sold a vehicle in defective condition and that had been in a previous wreck.

Shannon Miranda Reid filed a complaint in Harris County District Court against Joe Myers Automotive LLC alleging fraud, negligent representation and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to her suit, Reid purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan from Joe Myers Automotive on Oct. 31, 2020. She alleges she paid $30,638.84 that included principle, a 72 month 75,000 mile service contract that cost $2,730 and gap insurance for $900.

Reid further claims that the defendant represented the vehicle had 684 miles, was "in like new condition," and had not been in a wreck. She alleges she began to experience problems with the vehicle including the front bumper falling off and during the course of the maintenance repairs found out the car had been in a previous wreck. Reid claims the defendant fraudulently sold her a vehicle that had been a wreck which only had a fair market value of $15,000 and that the defendant has refused to restore the car.

Reid seeks monetary relief of more than $15,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Keith Gross in League City.
