Worker injured while using air grinder sues Conoco, others for $1M plus

HOUSTON — A worker is claiming negligence after being injured while using an air grinder at a job site in Carlsbad, New Mexico. 

Richard McClaughlin filed a complaint July 12 in Harris County District Court against COG Operating LLC, Conoco Resources Inc., ConocoPhillips, Conoco Company, Robert Wallace, PBL Consulting & Services Inc.m DTC Energy Group Inc., and Rudtuck Operating LLC alleging negligence. 

According to his complaint, McLaughlin was working for Frac Tank Rentals at a site operated by COG in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He alleges that while working at the site, he suffered injuries "while using an air grinder to cut bolts." 

McLaughlin claims he suffered pain, physical impairment, disfigurement and lost wages as well as incurred medical costs as a result of his injuries. He also alleges the neglience of the defendants for failing to provide a safe workplace, adequate equipment and for not having adequate or reasonably competent supervisors at the site. McLaughlin alleges the defendants also failed to implement proper safety policies and procedures or to warn him of the hazards. 

McLaughlin seeks monetary relief of more thatn $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Muhammad Aziz and Christopher Mahfouz of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston.
