HOUSTON — A offshore drilling worker is claiming he suffered permanent impairment of his earning capacity after tripping over a raised pipe on his employer's vessel and suffering serious injuries.

Gilbert Sanchez filed a complaint July 12 in Harris County District Court against Enterprise Offshore Drilling LLC alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Sanchez was working on the defendant's Enterprise 263 vessel on Aug. 8, 2018. He alleges that while performing welding work on the vessel, he tripped on a e that was "welded to, and raised above, the deck" and suffered injuries to his ankle, back and other parts of his body.

Sanchez claims that as a result of his injuries, he has suffered lost wages and that his earning capacity "has been impaired permanently." He alleges that Enterprise Offshore Drilling failed to maintain a safe workplace or make sure the vessel was free of tripping hazards and did not ensure the pipe was installed "in a proper and safe position." Sanchez also claims the defendant failed to adequately mark the pipe.

Sanchez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Anthony Buzbee of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
