Couple alleges car repair shop's negligence rendered their vehicle inoperable, unsafe

HOUSTON — A Harris County car repair is facing a claim it failed to properly fix a customer's vehicle which caused the car to be unsafe and inoperable. 

Steven Urenda and Evelyn Pena filed a complaint July 19 in Harris County District Court against Sunny Collision and Repair LLC alleging breach of contract, fraud, violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act, negligence and other claims. 

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, they contracted with Sunny to repair their 2019 Honda CR-V on November 3, 2020. They claim that several parts in the repair estimate were not replaced, some parts were replaced with "generic" parts instead of "OEM" parts and that the repairs were "done with poor workmanship" including with the lights and vehicle sensors that resulted in their Honda being "unsafe and inoperable." 

Among their claims in their suit , the plaintiffs allege, Sunny made false representations and that the repairs to their car did not comply with those representations. They also allege they have suffered out of pocket expenses, loss of use of their vehicle and the cost of additional repairs as a result of the defendant's negligence. 

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Alan Ray San Miguel and Mario Gonzalez of San Miguel Attorneys PC in The Woodlands.
