HOUSTON — A man claims the subcontractor who he hired to install porcelain tile, broke pieces of slabs during installation, failed to do proper workmanship and refuses to correct or repair his work.

Shahem Barazi filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Facades Group LLC alleging breach of contract.

Barazi hired the defendant on June 4, 2019, to install a large format porcelain tile in a master bathroom, shower, floors and walls, according to his complaint. He alleges that the defendant broke one of the porcelain slabs during installation, installed the shower floor without the drain and damaged the slab while cutting it during installation and that the heated floor did not come on when activated.

He claims that after several attempts to contact Facades, they agreed to make the needed repairs and corrections starting on April 1, 2021, but by April 22, 2021, no work had been done and failed to show up on the designated work start day. Barazi further claims he had to pay out of pocket for a plumber and carpenter to make the needed corrections and repairs and had to "endure countless and needless delays" with the owner back-charging him for all the delays and cost him $5,300 due to the defendant's negligent work and breach of contract.

Barazi seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Attorney J.A. Asafi in Houston.
